بسا ہوا ہے خیالوں میں کوئی پیکرِ ناز

بُلا رہی ہے ابھی تک وہ دل نشیں آواز

وہی دنوں میں تپش ہے وہی شبوں میں گداز

مگر یہ کیا کہ مری زندگی میں سوز نہ ساز

نہ چھیڑ اے خلشِ درد بار بار نہ چھیڑ

چھپا کے بیٹھا ہوں سینے میں ایک عمر کے راز

بس اب تو ایک ہی دُھن ہے کہ نیند آ جائے

وہ دن کہاں کہ اُٹھائیں شبِ فراق کے ناز

گذر ہی جائے گی اے دوست ترے ہجر کی رات

کہ تجھ سے بڑھ کے ترا درد ہے مرا دم ساز

یہ اور بات کہ دنیا نہ سن سکی ورنہ

سکوتِ اہلِ نظر ہے بجائے خود آواز

یہ بے سبب نہیں شام و سحر کے ہنگامے

اُٹھا رہا ہے کوئی پردہ ہائے راز و نیاز

ترا خیال بھی تیری طرح مکمّل ہے

وہی شباب وہی دلکشی وہی انداز

شراب و شعر کی دنیا بدل گئی لیکن

وہ آنکھ ڈھونڈھ ہی لیتی ہے بے خودی کا جواز

عروج پر ہے میرا درد اِن دنوں ناصرؔ

میری غزل میں دھڑکتی ہے وقت کی آواز

पैकर-ए नाज़ – नासिर काज़िमी

बसा हुआ है ख़यालौं में कोई पैकर-ए नाज़

बुला रही है अभी तक वो दिल-नशीं आवाज़

वही दिनौं में तपिश है वही शबौं में गुदाज़

मगर ये क्या के मेरी ज़िंदगी में सोज़ न साज़

न छेढ अए ख़लिश-ए दर्द बार बार न छेढ

छुपा के बैठा हूं सीने में एक उम्र के राज़

बस अब तो एक हि धुन है के नींद आ जाए

वो दिन कहां के उठाएं शब-ए फ़िराक़ के नाज़

गुज़र हि जाएगी अए दोस्त तेरे हिज्र की रात

के तझ से बढ़ के तेरा दर्द है मेरा दम-साज़

ये और बात के दुनिया न सुन सकी वर्ना

सुकूत-ए अहल-ए नज़र है बजाए ख़ुद आवाज़

ये बेसबब नहीं शाम ओ सहर के हंगामे

उठा रहा है कोई पर्दा-हा-ए राज़ ओ नियाज़

तेरा ख़याल भी तेरी तरह मुकम्मल है

वही शबाब, वही दिल्कशी, वही आवाज़

शराब ओ शे’र की दुनिया बदल गई लैकिन

वो आंख ढूंड हि लेती है बेख़ुदी का जुवाज़

उरूज पर है मेरा दर्द इन दिनौं नासर

मेरी ग़ज़ल में धढक्ती है वक़्त की आवाज़

Several of his compostions are interpreted as mourning the loss of home, familiar surroundings and identity. Ghazal is one of several Ghair mudarraf Ghazal modeled after Ghalib’s ‘maiN huN apni shikast ki aavaaz’.

basaa hua hai KhayaaloN meN koii paikar1-e naaz2
bula rahi ha abhi tak vo dil-nashiiN3 aavaaz  
1.picture, embodiment 2.coquetry, mischief 3.residing in the heart, heart pleasing
The poet remembers – in his imagination still lingers that embodiment of coquetry. The pleasant sound of her voice still lives in his heart. He could be recalling his beloved or his lost homeland.

vahi dinoN meN tapish1 hai vahi shaboN2 meN gudaaz3
magar ye kya keh meri zindagi meN soz4 na saaz5 
1.burning pain 2.nights 3.pain 4.fire, passion 5.music, joy
It is the same burning during the day and the same pain during nights. But what kind of injustice is this that there is no music or joy in my life i.e., the poet feels that is life is bland without any emotional ups and downs.

na chheR aye Khalish1-e dard baar-baar na chheR
chhupa ke baiTha huN siine meN ek umr2 ke raaz3  
1.irritation, burning 2.lifetime 3.secrets
Do not bother me O burning pain, do not bother me again and again. I have been hiding a lifetime worth of secrets in my bosom.

bas ab to ek hi dhun hai keh niind aa jaaye
vo din kahaaN keh uThaayeN shab1-e firaaq2 ke naaz3  
1.night of 2.separation (from the beloved) 3.coquetry, mischief
The poet/lover has been spending sleepless nights. He is now focussed on the single wish that he get to sleep. Gone are the days when he could bear the trials and demands of the night of separation.

guzar hi jaayegi aye dost1 tere hijr2 ki raat
keh tujh se baRh ke tera dard hai mera dam-saaz3  
1.friend, beloved 2.separation 3.life sustaining
O my friend, this night of separation from you will also pass. The pleasant pain of your memories is even more life giving than you. This could be about the beloved or about the lost homeland.

ye aur baat hai duniya na sun saki varna1
sukoot2-e ahl-e-nazar3 hai ba-jaaye-Khud4 avaaz 
1.otherwise 2.silence 3.people of (discerning) sight 4.inspite of itself, by itself
It is a different matter that the world cannot hear, otherwise the silence of people of taste is in itself a loud sound/acclamation (of approval of my verse).

ye be-sabab1 nahiN shaam-o-sahar2 ke haNgaame3
uTha raha hai koii parda-haa4-e raaz-o-niyaaz5
1.without reason 2.night and day 3.disturbances, tumult 4.curtains 5.secret/hidden offerings of love
This daily tumult is not without reason. Someone keeps revealing/lifting curtains from over the secret offerings of love. The poet lover has all these secrets and they are being revealed and causing a tumult – perhaps the beloved is angry at the revelations. Who is doing the revelations, who is causing the tumult is all left to the imagination.

Even your memories are as perfect as you – the same youthful beauty, the same pleasantness the same sweet voice.

vo aaNkh DhoonDh hi leti hai be-Khudi1 ka juvaaz2

The days when the poet and friends used to gather readings and wine drinking are gone. But he still sometimes manages to get ‘be-Khud i.e. not aware of himself or intoxicated’ and his searching eye somehow finds a reason to get drunk.
