میں وقت کی دہلیز پہ ٹھہرا ہوا پل ہوں
قائم ہے میری شان كہ میں تاج محل ہوں
بھولا ہے نہ بھولے گا کبھی مجھ کو زمانہ
زندہ ہے میرے دم سے محبت کا فسانہ
جو دِل میں اُتَر جائے وہ رنگین غزل ہوں
میں وقت کی دہلیز پہ ٹھہرا ہوا پل ہوں
قائم ہے میری شان كہ میں تاج محل ہوں
پتھر کی عمارت ہوں مگر موم کا دِل ہے
پونم کا حَسِیں چاند میرے گال کا تِل ہے
مُمتاز کی پاکیزہ محبت کا کنول ہوں
میں وقت کی دہلیز پہ ٹھہرا ہوا پل ہوں
قائم ہے میری شان كہ میں تاج محل ہوں
تصویر ہوں وہ جس کو مُصّور بھی نہارے
رک جائیں مجھے دیکھ كے بہتے ہوئے دھارے
میں آج بھی دُنیا کو رجھانے میں سفل ہوں

पत्थर की इमारत हूं मगर मोम का दिल है
पूनम का हसीं चाँद मेरे गाल का तिल है
मुमताज़ की पाकीज़ा मोहब्बत का कंवल हूं
मैं वक़्त की दहलिज़ पे ठहरा हुआ पल हूं
क़ायम है मेरी शान के मैं ताज महल हूं
तस्वीर हुं वो जिस को मुसव्विर भी निहारे
रुक जाएं मुझे देख के बहते हुए धारे
मैं आज भी दुनिया को रिझाने में सफ़ल हूं
मैं वक़्त की दहलिज़ पे ठहरा हुआ पल हूं

मैं अम्न का पैग़ाम मोहब्बत की निशानी
वो हुस्न हुं ढलती ही नहीं जिस की जवानी
ये किस ने कहा तुम से के गुज़रा हुआ कल हूं

कब मैं ने कहा मुझ को निगाहौं में बसा लो
मुमकिन हो तो ज़हरीली हवाऔं से बचा लो
दो चाहने वालौं की तमन्नाऔं का फल हूं

This is an ode to the taj, more as a symbolism of love and as a monument marking time, rather than celebrating the labour and craftsmanship that went into its creation.
