دربارِ وطن میں جب اِک دِن، سب جانے والے جائیں گے

کچھ اپنی سزا کو پہنچیں گے، کچھ اپنی جزا لے جائیں گے

 

ائے خاک نشینو اُٹھ بیٹھو، وہ وقت قریب آ پہنچا ہے

جب تخت گرائے جائیں گے، جب تاج اُچھالے جائیں گے

 

اب ٹوٹ گریں گی زنجیریں، اب زندانوں کی خیر نہیں

جو دریا جھوم کے اُٹّھے ہیں، تنکوں سے نہ ٹالے جائیں گے

 

کٹتے بھی چلو، بڑھتے بھی چلو، بازو بھی بہت ہیں، سر بھی بہت

چلتے بھی چلو کہ اب ڈیرے، منزل پہ ہی ڈالے جائیں گے

 

ائے ظلم کے ماتو لب کھولو، چُپ رہنے والو چُپ کب تک

کچھ حشر تو اُن سے اُٹّھے گا، کچھ دور تو نالے جائیں گے

दरबार-ए वतन में जब एक दिन, सब जाने वाले जाऐं गे

कुच्छ अपनी सज़ा को पहुंचें गे, कुच्छ अपनी जज़ा ले जाऐं गे

 

आए ख़ाक नशीनो उठ बैठो, वो वक़्त क़रीब आ पहुंचा है

जब तख़्त गिराए जाऐं गे, जब ताज उछाले जाऐं गे

 

अब टूट गिरें गी ज़ंजीरें, अब शिन्दानौं की ख़ैर नहीं

जो दरया झूम के उट्ठे हैं, तिनकों से ना टाले जाऐं गे

 

कट्ते भी चलो, बढ़ते भी चलो, बाज़ू भी बहुत हैं, सर भी बहुत

चलते भी चलो के अब डेरे, मंज़िल पे ही डाले जाऐं गे

 

अय ज़ुल्म के मातौ लब खोलो, चुप रहने वालो चुप कब तक

कुच्छ हश्र तो उन से उट्ठे गा, कुच्छ दूर तो नाले जाऐं गे

O dust-laden, downtrodden people, sit up and see that that day is nearby when seats of power will be toppled, crowns thrown up in the air.

ab TooT gireN gi zanjeereN, ab zindanauN1 ki Khair nahiN
jo darya jhoom ke uTThe haiN, tinkauN2 se na Taale jaaeN ge
1.prisons 2.straw, crumbs
Chains (of political prisoners) will break and fall apart. Prisons will not last long. The sea that has risen in great hope, will not be deceived/mollified with crumbs.

kaTte bhi chalo, baRhte bhi chalo, baazu bhi bahut haiN, sar bhi bahut
chalte bhi chalo ke ab Dere1, manzil2 pe hi Daale jaaeN ge
1.tent, camp 2.destination
Some will get cut down, others move forward. We are many (arms and heads), let us keep moving forward. We will now camp only at the destination.

aye zulm ke maatau1 lab2 kholo, chup rahne vaalo chup kab tak
kuchh hashr3 to un se uTThe ga, kuchh duur to naale4 jaaeN ge
1.beaten 2.lips 3.tumult 4.wailing
O, you who have been beaten down by oppression, speak up. How long will you remain silent. Speak up so that a tumult may rise, your cries will spread at least a little.
