یومِ مئی ۔ انتظار حسین نکہتؔ بریلوی

نمودِ حُسنِ تجلّی شعار کا دن ہے

وفورِ غنچہ و گل کے نکھار کا دن ہے

نظامِ جبر و تشدّد کی ہار کا دن ہے

یہ کشتگانِ غمِ روزگار کا دن ہے

یہ دن شکستِ شبِ انتظار کا دن ہے

بہار کا ہے، مکمل بہار کا دن ہے

علاجِ گردشِ آلام لے کے آیا ہے

سوادِ زیست کا پیغام لے کے آیا ہے

حسین تر سحر و شام لے کے آیا ہے

نویدِ عیش و طربِ عام لے کے آیا ہے

حریفِ درد ہے آرام لے کے آیا ہے

یہ دن تصوّرِ خوش کام لے کے آیا ہے

यौम-ए मई – इन्तज़ार हुसैन निक्हत बरेलवी

नमूद-ए हुस्न-ए तजल्ली-शे’आर का दिन है

वफ़ूर-ए ग़ुंचा ओ गुल के निखार का दिन है

निज़ाम-ए जब्र ओ तशद्दुद कि हार का दिन है

ये कुश्तगान-ए ग़म-ए रोज़गार का दिन है

ये दिन शिकस्त-ए शब-ए इन्तज़ार का दिन है

बहार का है, मुकम्मल बहार का दिन है

इलाज-ए गर्दिश-ए आलाम ले के आया है

सवाद-ए ज़ीस्त का पैग़ाम ले के आया है

हसीन-तर सहर ओ शाम ले के आया है

नवीद-ए ऐश ओ तरब-ए आम ले के आया है

हरीफ़-ए दर्द है, आराम ले के आया है

ये दिन तसव्वुर-ए ख़ुश-काम ले के आया है

Migrated to pakistan in 1950, postgraduate BA (faazil) in punjab. Worked as a high school teacher. Then trained as a ‘tabeeb’ and joined his father in his practice. Later quit his practice and edited magazines. This nazm on May Day reflects the naïve optimism of the times.

ye kushtagaan5-e Gham-e rozgaar6 ka din hai   
1.regime 2.force 3.oppression 4.defeat 5.slaughtered, killed 6.livelihood
Today is the day of defeat of force and oppression. It is the day of liberation of those killed by the burden of earning a just livelihood.
