زمین  خونِ  شہیداں  سے  ہے  رنگیں

उठाए हाथों में अपने हुसैनियत का अलम

आदीबो, शाएरो, दानिश्वरो, सुख़न-दानो

करो हिकाएत-ए बैरुत ख़ून-ए दिल से रक़म

शिकस्त जहल को होगी, शू’उर जीतेगा

करेगा जहल कहां तक सर-ए शु’ऊर क़लम

चली है वो हवा-ए ज़हर-आगीं

के बुझ कर रह गई है शम’-ए तम्कीं

दुआ-गोयान-ए आलम को ख़बर क्या

के किस आलम में हैं अहल-ए फ़िलिस्तीं

हुआ लब्नान में वो हश्र बरपा

ज़मीन ख़ून-ए शहीदां से है रंगीं

Wrote and spoke/recited fearlessly against dictatorship, inequality and injustice in simple straightforward language. These are two short nazm, in solidarity with Palestinians. They were composed in the 1980s during the massacre of Palestinians in sabra and shaTila refugee camps but are equally relevant for Ghazzaa today.

Without repeating the history of karbala suffice it to say that yazid is used as symbol of tyranny and oppression and husain as a symbol of courageous resistance to injustice. Thus, Palestinians are engaged in a conflict with yaziid/tyranny/oppression carrying in their hands the banner of husain/courage/resistance.

Such a tumultous day has come to Lebanon as to look like doomsday. The earth is painted red with the blood of martyrs.
