ضروری تو نہیں  ۔ حسن چشتی

 

ہر کوئی  پیکرِ غم ہو، یہ ضروری تو نہیں

’’آپ کی آنکھ بھی نم ہو، یہ ضروری تو نہیں،،

 

شہر کا شہر پریشاں نظر آتا ہے مگر

اُن کو احساسِ ستم ہو، یہ ضروری تو نہیں

 

جو جبیں خم نہ ہوئی قیصر و کِسریٰ کے حضور

آپ کے در پہ نہ خم ہو، یہ ضروری تو نہیں

 

حُسنِ مغرور کو آئینہ دکھانے والو

حُسن، ممنونِ کرم ہو، یہ ضروری تو نہیں

 

قتل تو صفحۂ  تاریخ پہ ہوتا ہے رقم

صرف دل ہی پہ رقم ہو، یہ ضروری تو نہیں

 

جس نے اک عمر فقط سچ کے سوا کچھ نہ لکھا

ہاتھ اُس کا نہ قلم ہو، یہ ضروری تو نہیں

 

پائے ساقی پہ تو سجدہ بھی عبادت ہے حسنؔ

صرف پتھر ہی صنم ہو، یہ ضروری تو نہیں

हर कोई पैकर-ए ग़म हो ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं

आप की आँख भी नम हो, ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं

 

शहर का शहर परेशां नज़र आता है मगर

उन को एहसास-ए सितम हो ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं

 

जो जबीं ख़म न हुई क़ैसर ओ किस्रा के हुज़ूर

आप के दर पे न ख़म हो, ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं

 

हुस्न-ए मग़रूर को आईना दिखाने वालो

हुस्न ममनून-ए करम हो ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं

 

क़त्ल तो सफ़ह-ए तारीख़ ओपी होता है रक़म

सिर्फ़ दिल ही पे रक़म हो ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं

 

जिस ने एक उम्र फ़क़त सुच के सिवा कुछ न लिखा

हाथ उस के न क़लम हों ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं

 

पा-ए साक़ी पे तो सिजदा भी इबादत है हसन

सिर्फ़ पत्थर ही सनम हो, ये ज़रूरी तो नहीं

Traditionally, the lover/poet keeps the cruelties of the beloved hidden from the world. It is written on his heart, not displayed to everyone. But then, the story of murder/killing is so serious that it is written on the page of history. It is not necessary that it be written only in the depths of the heart.

haath us ke na qalam4 hoN, ye zaruri to nahiN

The poet/lover claims that all life long he has written nothing but the truth. But this does not save him from the wrath of the beloved. She may yet chop his hands off.

O hasan, bowing down at the feet of the saaqi is also considered (legitimate) worship. It is not necessary that only stone be fashioned into idols i.e. even saaqi can be worshiped as an idol.
