ہوں یہ دونوں صورتیں تب ہے بہارِ اِنتظار
عمر کیجے صرفِ یادِ گیسو و رُخسارِ یار
یوں بسر کر جائیے لیل و نہارِ اِنتظار
جان و دِل کا حال کیا کہیے فراقِ یار میں
جان مجروحِ الم ہے، دِل فگارِ انتظار
کیا ہوئیں آسانیاں وہ روزگارِ وصل کی
اب تو ہم ہیں اور رنجِ بے شمارِ اِنتظار
میری آہیں نارسا، میری دعائیں نا قبول
یا اِلہٰی کیا کروں میں شرمسارِ اِنتظار
صبر کی طاقت نہیں باقی دِلِ مایوس میں
دیکھئے کیونکر بسر ہو روزگارِ انتظار
راہ تیری اِس قدر دیکھی کہ اے غفلت شعار
میری آنکھیں ہو گئیں سرمایہ دارِ اِنتظار
اُن کے خط کی آرزو ہے، اُن کی آمد کا خیال
کِس قدر پھیلا ہوا ہے کاروبارِ اِنتظار
ہے دِلِ مسرورِ حسرت اِک طرب زارِ اُمید
پھونک ڈالے گر نہ اِس گُلشن کو نارِ اِنتظار

उम्र कीजे सर्फ़-ए याद-ए गेसू ओ रुख़सार-ए यार
यूँ बसर कर जाईये लैल ओ नेहार-ए इन्तेज़ार
जान ओ दिल का हाल क्या कहिये फ़िराक़-ए यार में
जान मज्रूह-ए अलम है, दिल फ़िगार-ए इन्तेज़ार
क्या हुईं आसानियाँ वो रोज़गार-ए वस्ल कि
अब तो हम हैं और रंज-ए बे-शुमार-ए इन्तेज़ार
मेरी आहें ना-रसा मेरी दुआएं ना-क़ुबूल
या इलाही क्या करूँ मैं शर्मसार-ए इन्तेज़ार
सब्र कि ताक़त नहीं बाक़ी दिल-ए मायूस में
देखिये क्यूँकर बसर हो रोज़गार-ए इन्तेज़ार
राह तेरी इस क़दर देखि के अए ग़फ़्लत शुआर
मेरी आँखें हो गईं सरमायादार-ए इन्तेज़ार
उन के ख़त कि आरज़ू है, उन कि आमद का ख़याल
किस क़दर फैला हुआ है कारोबार-ए इन्तेज़ार
है दिल-ए मस्रूर-ए हस्रत एक तरब-ज़ार-ए उमीद
