اور کوئی دم کی مہماں ہے گزر جائے گی رات
پؤ پھٹے تک آپ اپنی موت مر جائے گی رات

زندگی میں اور بھی کُچھ زہر بھر جائے گی رات
اب اگر ٹھہری رگ و پے میں اُتر جائے گی رات

جو بھی ہیں پروردۂ شب جو بھی ہیں ظلمت پرست
وہ تو جائیں گے اُسی جانب جِدھر جائے گی رات

اہلِ طوفاں بے حِسی کا گر یہی عالم رہا
موجِ خوں بن کر ہر اِک سر سے گزر جائے گی رات

ہے اُفق سے ایک سنگِ آفتاب آنے کی دیر
ٹوٹ کر مانندِ آئینہ بکھر جائے گی رات

ہم تو جانے کب سے ہیں آوارۂ ظلمت مگر
تم ٹھہر جاؤ تو پل بھر میں گزر جائے گی رات

رات کا انجام بھی معلوم ہے مجھ کو سرورؔ
لاکھ اپنی حد سے گزرے تا سحر جائے گی رات

पौ फटे तक आप-अपनी मौत मर जाएगी रात

ज़िंदगी में और भी कुछ ज़हर भर जाएगी रात
अब अगर ठहरी रग-ओ-पै में उतर जाएगी रात

जो भी हैं पर्वर्दा-ए-शब जो भी हैं ज़ुल्मत परस्त
वो तो जाएँगे उसी जानिब जिधर जाएगी रात
४
अहल-ए-तूफ़ाँ बे-हिसी का गर यही आलम रहा
मौज-ए-ख़ूँ बन कर हर एक सर से गुज़र जाएगी रात
५
है उफ़ुक़ से एक संग-ए-आफ़्ताब आने की देर
टूट कर मानिंद-ए-आईना बिखर जाएगी रात
६
हम तो जाने कब से हैं आवारा-ए-ज़ुल्मत मगर
तुम ठहर जाओ तो पल भर में गुज़र जाएगी रात
७
रात का अंजाम भी मालूम है मुझ को ‘सुरूर’
लाख अपनी हद से गुज़रे ता-सहर जाएगी रात

If it lingers any longer this night will poison life even more. It will descend into the very body and become a part of it.

vo to jaayeNge usi jaanib5 jidhar jaayegi raat 1.nurture, feed 2.night 3.darkness 4.worshipping 5.direction
Those who have nurtured this night, those who worship darkness, they will surely go in the same direction as the night i.e. they will also decline and die.

ahl-e-tufaaN1 be-hisi2 ka gar yahi aalam3 raha
mauj-e-KhuN4 ban kar har ek sar se guzar5 jaayegi raat 1.people of the storm, rebels 2.insensitivity 3.condition 4.wave of blood 5.pass
O comrades/rebels, the oppressors are insensitive. If they continue to be insensitive then this oppressive night will turn into a wave of blood and pass over their heads (drowning them).

hai ufaq1 se ek saNg2-e aaftaab3 aane ki der
TooT kar manind4-e aaiina bikhar5 jaayegi raat 1.horizon 2.rock 3.sun, brilliance 4.like, similar to 5.scatter
It is only a matter of one rock of brilliance coming over the horizon. As soon as that happens this dark night will shatter like a mirror and scatter all over.

tum Thahar jaao to pal bhar meN guzar jaayegi raat 1.wandering in the darkness
The poet is speaking of his own generation and expressing hope/wish for the next. We have been wandering in the darkness no one knows how long. But you just wait and see, this night will pass in a moment.

laakh apni hadd2 se guzre ta-sahar3 jaayegi raat 1.result, end 2.limit 3.until dawn
O, suroor, I know the end of the night (of oppression). It may exceed its limits but by dawn it will pass.
