یہ راہبر کا ذکر ہے، یہ ناخدا کا ذکر ہے

بنی جو روحِ صبر سے، اُسی وفا کا ذکر ہے

جو چھا گئی حیات پر اُسی صدا کا ذکر ہے

یہ کربلا کا ذکر ہے، یہ کربلا کا ذکر ہے

اُسی زمیں کی خاک سے محبّتوں کی آس ہے

نگاہ سے جو دور ہے وہ اہلِ دل کے پاس ہے

اُٹھایا ظلم نے جو سر، حسین نے جُھکا دیا

دماغ وضع یوں کئے کہ دِل کو دِل بنا دیا

ہے راز معرفت کا کیا جہاں کو آسرا دیا

سُنا دیا، پڑھا دیا، سکھا دیا، بتا دیا

بقا کی چھاؤں مل گئی، ثبات پا کے سو گئے

حیات دے کے سو گئے، حیات پا کے سو گئے

وہ صبر جس سے ظلم بھی پناہ مانگتا رہا

تری ضیا سے چاندنی کو ماہ مانگتا رہا

ملا نہ جس کو راستہ وہ راہ مانگتا رہا

زمانہ روشنی میں بھی پناہ مانگتا رہا

جہاں تو میہماں ہوا، وہ باغ بن گیا حسین

جو قطرہ خون کا گرا، چراغ بن گیا حسین

ہر اِک زباں پہ ذکر ہے، ہر ایک لب پہ بات ہے

ترے قدم پہ سر نگوں، حسین کائنات ہے

نگاہِ دو جہاں سے بھی بلند تیری ذات ہے

ترا قدم ثبات ہے، تری اجل حیات ہے

وہ برق طور پر جو تھی، دمک رہی ہے آج بھی

حسینیت کے روُپ میں چمک رہی ہے آج بھی

گھٹا کے اپنی آرزو، بڑھا کے سب کے حوصلے

دِلوں میں تم نے بھر دئے طرح طرح کے ولولے

ازل سے جو تھے منتظر سلجھ گئے وہ مسٔلے

ملا گئے مجاز اور حقیقتوں کے سلسلے

مٹا یزید اور تمہیں حکومتِ جہاں ملی

نگاہِ خضر جھک گئی وہ عمرِ جاوداں ملی

وہ راحتِ ابد بنے جو ظلم دل پہ سہہ گئے

الم کے اشک تھم گئے، خوشی کے اشک بہہ گئے

وہ نقش بن کے رہ گئے جو بات لب سے کہہ گئے

یزیدیت فنا ہوئی حسین دل میں رہ گئے

مجاز کی وہ لہر تھی بگڑ گئی بکھر گئی

حقیقتوں کی زلف پھر سُدھر گئی سنور گئی

وہ پرچمِ وفا کھلا حسینیت کی چھاؤں میں

ہر ایک اہلِ دل چلا حسینیت کی چھاؤں میں

چراغِ حُرّیت جلا حسینیت کی چھاؤں میں

چمک رہی ہے کربلا حسینیت کی چھاؤں میں

ضیائیں دیکھ دیکھ کے ستارے جھلملائیں گے

ہزار چاند آئیں گے طواف کر کے جائیں گے

دلِ حزیں میں اپنے ایک مدعا لئے ہوئے

حسین تیرے در پہ ہیں یہ آسرا لئے ہوئے

جھکے جو بندگی میں سر، حدِ وفا لئے ہوئے

اُٹھے جو نورؔ کی جبیں تو نقشِ پا لئے ہوئے

ترے الم میں آنسوؤں کی کہکشاں بنا سکوں

وہ موت دے کہ زندگی کو جاوداں بنا سکوں

उसी ज़मीं कि ख़ाक से मोहब्बतौं कि आस है

निगाह से जो दूर है, वो अहल-ए दिल के पास है

दिमाग़ वज़अ यूं किए, के दिल को दिल बना दिया

है राज़ मारेफ़त का क्या, जहां को आस्रा दिया

सुना दिया, पढ़ा दिया, सिखा दिया, बता दिया

बक़ा कि छाऊं मिल गई, सबात पा के सो गए

हयात दे के सो गए, हयात पा के सो गए

वो सब्र जिस से ज़ुल्म भी पनाह मांगता रहा

तेरी ज़िया से चांदनी को माह मांगता रहा

मिला न जिस को रास्ता वो राह मांगता रहा

ज़माना रौशनी में भी पनाह मांगता रहा

जहां तु मेहमां हुआ, वो बाग़ बन गया हुसैन

जो क़त्रा ख़ून का गिरा, चिराग़ बन गया हुसैन

हर एक ज़बां पे ज़िक्र है, हर ऐक लब पे बात है

तेरे क़दम पे सर निगूं, हुसैन काएनात है

निगाह-ए दो जहां से भि बलंद तेरी ज़ात है

तेरा क़दम सबात है, तेरी अजल हयात है

वो बर्क़ तूर पर जो थी, दमक रही आज भी

हुसैनिय्यत के रूप में चमक रही आज भी

घटा के अपनी आर्ज़ू, बढ़ा के सब के हौस्ले

दिलौं में तुम ने भर दिए तरह तरह के वल्वले

अज़ल से जो थे मुंतज़िर सुलझ गए वो मस’अले

मिला गए मजाज़ और हक़ीक़तौं के सिल्सिले

मिटा यज़ीद और तुम्हें हुकूमत-ए जहां मिली

निगाह-ए ख़िज़्र झुक गई वो उम्र-ए जावदां मिली

वो राहत-ए अबद बने जो ज़ुल्म दिल पे सह गए

अलम के अश्क थम गए ख़ुशी के अश्क बह गए

वो नक़्श बन के रह गए, जो बात लब से कह गए

यज़ीदिय्यत फ़ना हुई, हुसैन दिल में रह गए

मजाज़ की वो लहर थी, बिगड़ गई बिखर गई

हक़ीक़तौं कि ज़ुल्फ़ फिर सुधर गई संवर गई

वो पर्चम-ए वफ़ा खुला, हुसैनिय्यत की छाऊं में

हर एक अहल-ए दिल चला, हुसैनिय्यत की छाऊं में

चिराग़-ए हुर्रिय्यत जला, हुसैनिय्यत की छाऊं में

चमक रही है करबला, हुसैनिय्यत की छाऊं में

ज़ियाएं देख देख के, सितारे झिल्मिलाएंगे

हज़ार चांद आएंगे, तवाफ़ कर के जाएंगे

दिल-ए हज़ीं में अपने ऐक मुद्दोआ लिए हुए

हुसैन तेरे दर पे हैं ये आस्रा लिए हुए

झुके जो बंदगी में सर, हद-ए वफ़ा लिए हुए

उठे जो नूर की जबीं तो नक़्श-ए पा लिए हुए

तेरे अलम में आंसुऔं कि कहकशां बना सकूं

वो मौत दे के ज़िंदगी को जावदां बना सकूं

The poet/devotee is narrating the story of the guide/helmsman (husain) whose spirit was one of steadfast determination (to stay on the righteous path) and who was certain of/kept faith with truth. It was his voice that spread across life. This is the story of karbala, this is the story of karbala. He has hopes of receiving love/benvolence from the dust of karbala. That which cannot be seen is in the hearts of believers.

hai raaz3 m’aarefat4 ka kya, jahaaN ko aasra diya
suna diya, paRha diya, sikha diya, bata diya
baqaa5 ki chhaauN mil gaii, sabaat6 paa ke so gaye
hayaat7 de ke so gaye, hayaat paa ke so gaye

When oppression raised its head, husain put it down. He shaped thinking such that hearts could agree and make an emotional commitment. He explained the secret of mystic knowledge to the world. He spoke, he taught, he exemplified, he showed. He achieved eternal life, standing firm on his principles and died. He gave the world meaning of life.

jo qatra7 Khoon ka gira, chiraaGh ban gaya husain

His determination was so strong that even oppression sought refuge. The moon begged for moonlight from his brilliance. Those who had lost their way sought guidance. The whole world sought protection. Wherever you were a guest, it turned into a garden. Wherever a drop of your blood fell, it became a (guiding) light.

Everyone talks of you. The universe bows down at your feet. Your person is higher (in status) than we can see (imagine, beyond heaven). Your step (path) is steadfast (in righteousness). You death is in reality eternal life. The divine light that shone on mount tuur still shines today. It sparkles in the shape of husainiyyat (the character of husain).

miTa yazeed aur tumheN hukoomat-e jahaaN mili
nigaah-e-Khizr11 jhuk gaii, go umr-e-jaavedaaN12 mili

Suppressing personal desires/ambitions (for worldly power) you gave everyone courage and determination. You filled their hearts with passion (for justice). You gave us solution to puzzles that were waiting for a solution from eternity. You explained the connection/difference between the material and spiritual. yazeed was obliterated and you became the ruler of the (hearts of) world. You achieved such a glorious eternal life that even immortal Khizr lowered his eyes respectfully.

Illusion was destroyed, truth prevailed, staightening the disheveled hair of spiritualism.

The lamp of freedom was lit because of husain. karbala shines because of husain. Stars will borrow this light to sparkle. A thousand moons will come down and circumambulate to get some light.
